Contribution to the Discovery Center

July 10, 2015

Pastor Rick Egtvedt, Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church, met with Caroline Blizzard, Discovery Center Manager of Deep Creek Lake State Park on Friday, July 10.  Pastor Rick presented a $170 check for Western Garrett County State Park Volunteers, to be used for programming at the Discovery Center or Aviary.  The gift was made possible by the offering collected at the outdoor worship service, conducted June 14 at Will O’ the Wisp, celebrating the 90th anniversary of Deep Creek Lake.  The service was sponsored by Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church, with participation by Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Bittinger, and the Accident Lutheran Parish.

Programs provided at the Deep Creek Lake Discovery Center, “bringing people and resources together,” are provided seven days a week, for all ages and interests.  For information, go to http://discoverycenterdcl.com.   Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church is a young mission congregation of the ELCA, located at Sand Flat Plaza (behind Sorellee’s Pizza).  Sunday worship is at 9:30 a.m.  For further information see http://www.shepherdofthehillslutheran.org.  Pastor Rick can be contacted at 301-387-8218.
