SHEPHERD OF THE HILLS will be presented for membership as a full-fledged congregation in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) at the next Synod Assembly, May 31, 7:15 p.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 309 Baldwin Street, Morgantown. All of our members are invited to attend and will be recognized at the presentation. The presentation takes place at the Assembly's Friday evening worship service.

BIBLE STUDY – Epistle I JOHN
May 8, 15, 22 and 29

Please join us for a Bible study at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church (17869 Garrett Highway, Zip'eez Complex) for four Wednesdays starting on May 8th at 7 pm. Rev Donald R. Thomas will guide us through this book to find the teaching that speaks to us in this and all times.

The theological and ethical message of I John is profound and important for our lives.  Martin Luther said, "This is an outstanding Epistle.  It can buoy up afflicted hearts.  Furthermore, it has John's style and manner of expression, so beautifully and gently does it picture Christ to us."  Yet, understanding of the letter often eludes a first or casual reading.  For four Wednesdays starting on May 8, we will look at this book to find the teaching that speaks to us in this and all times.  Please come and join us for the study of the Epistle of I John.

Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church awarded $300
From Thrivent Financial for Lutherans to Support its Youth

Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church, Deep Creek Lake, was recently awarded $300 as part of a Pancake Breakfast fundraiser hosted on Sunday, April 21, by its youth and members from the Garrett County Chapter of Thrivent Financial for Lutherans. The funds will be used to help support the congregation's youth in their quest to participate in summer camp experiences at Camp Luther (Cowen, WV) and Young Lives Camp in Virginia.

Thrivent Financial members and other volunteers raised more than $400 and an additional $300 was provided by Thrivent Financial. Through its chapter programs, Thrivent Financial members come together in service to help their communities and congregations.

Taylor will serve as a childcare volunteer at YoungLives Camp.
Sammi, Mackenzie and Jenna will attend Camp Luther.
